Delaplane thanks Youth in Politics

Last week, Darke County Commissioner Diane Delaplane gave one of her evenings to talk to young people in the Greenville area and from Mississiniwa Valley about the local political structure, concentrating on county Townships and the Commissioners Office.
The Youth in Politics group was interested in the responsibilities of a commissioner because they will be looking at the candidates for retiring Terry Haworth's position in the November general election.

The story was published in a recent edition of The Daily Advocate.
A membership campaign for the group is being planned at Mississiniwa Valley schools and Greenville High School in the fall. Anyone interested in more information may contact the group through darkeyouthpolitics@gmail.com.

Hello Bob,
Thank you for the opportunity to share some time with the Youth in Politics.  They were very attentive and I appreciated their questions. To address one of the questions -
I talked to a former fire chief and he mentioned that many fire depts are private and not actually run by village or township.  More information can be obtained through the State Fire website which I have not checked out yet.
Thank you also for the nice picture and article.  It may have stirred some people up, but that is politics and the price for being a public servant.
Thanks again  to you, Elaine and the young potentials to be in some form of public service.
At least I know they are striving to be informed through yours and Elaine's support.
   Please share as you wish!
   Diane :)
