Darke TEA Patriot meeting report

DARKE T.E.A. PATRIOT
October 12, 2010   MEETING REPORT

A Prayer and the  Pledge of Alligiance to our Flag started this vital meeting.
The DARKE T.E.A. PATRIOTS Signs are available for all of Darke County
This section of the weekly report actually started during the first meeting  of this group held on January 18, 2010. During that meeting, a common concern regarding the County Commissioner race, primary at that time, and the Attorney General race, included Dave Yost at that time, and the concensus that we should clearly identify who we as a group support.  Well, that was almost nine months ago, the primary occurred May 4, but the discussion has remained the same, never-the-less.
The Attorney General race currently involves the incumbent, David Cordray, Mike DeWine and Robert Owens. Following extensive discussion that included a reasonable amount of emotion, a period of contemplation was inserted in the meeting agenda to encourage a vote that was based on facts.
The County Commissioner race involves Mike Stegall, Keith Smith and David Niley. The discussion regarding these three candidates reviewed the quality of their presentations as well as many factors of character traits presented by the various members based on actual experience. Of special interest was the emotional position that public speaking skills are nice but of little value in fulfilling the duties of the office.  Comments focused on personal actions that portrayed character traits were the center of the county commissioner discussion.
When the vote finally was called, an immediate question was raised about procedure. Should a voter abstain or merely vote present.  The concensus was for a voter not willing to vote for a candidate, then a vote of present would have more value that no vote at all.

The winning Candidates were:
Attorney General                    Richard Cordray
County Commissioner            Dave Niley
            Voting              Present      Attorney General                    21%
                                                            County Commissioner            25%
A report by Tomas Subler regarding research on Darke County Schools and School Boards finances and activity continued the in depth reporting by this committee.
Questions by Dale Curtis were greatly appreciated and though in many cases were intentionally rhetorical, each question stimulated heartfelt sincere reactions.  Good Job Dale.

The General Election (21 days away) –GET INVOLVED!

The next meeting will be
tuesday
@    5:30 P.M.     OCTOBER 19, 2010.

How is it that a TEA (Taxed Enough Already) party/ club, whose entire premise is smaller government, could endorse a candidate who represents the party of big government? A candidate whose only proposed idea during this campaign is to build a tax-payer funded senior citizen center that he has yet to explain how he will build, pay for, and maintain? Seems like hypocrisy at its finest to me.
As someone who considers them self a huge supporter of the national TEA Party movement, I know with absolute certainty that the national organization would never support such a thing....which is precisely why I have not and never will join the Darke Co. group - they are faruds.
Clearly, this is about something other than TEA Party principles - that is obvious to the most casual observer. I would guess that there are some personal motivations here. The good name of the TEA Party has been hijacked here in Darke County and is being used to carry out incendiary motives.
