Reitz to talk to Youth in Politics

Greenville High School senior Paul Reitz will be talking to the Youth in Politics group July 15 at Brethren Retirement Community.
Reitz is the local student who served as a House of Representatives Page in Washington, D.C. last spring. He will be talking about his experiences there. The appointment was made by U.S. Representative John Boehner (R-8th Dist.).
It will be an opportunity to hear about a little-discussed aspect of the political process in our nation’s capitol.
Youth in Politics is a growing group of young people interested in politics and the political process. It is non-partisan, as the goal is educational. While “passionate” discussions can sometimes occur, all perspectives are treated with respect. A primary focus of the group is to learn how the political and electoral processes work, and the various levels of government, especially local.
Membership in the group is open to all young people, including junior high, high school and college ages. The only requirement is a desire to learn and get involved. Meetings are also open to parents, educators and any other interested adults.
Also on the agenda will be recruiting plans for the fall and a brief discussion of the November election.
The meeting will be in the Private Dining Room of BRC, 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 15. The Private Dining Room is located just off the main dining room. Entrance is through the main lobby.
