Robinson marches for the cure... donations requested

Robinson marches in “pink” for the cure

The schedule is full for Annie Oakley Days Saturday… Breast Cancer Awareness, Key Club & T.E.A. Patriots

Bob Robinson has agreed to dress up in the most outlandish pink and purple dress and accessories he can find. You’ll find him marching down South Broadway – along with several other “macho” guys – at 9 a.m. Saturday morning before the Annie Oakley Days Parade.
He is, however, doing it for a worthy cause: Breast Cancer Awareness.
Robinson said he’s asking his friends to “make a donation” to see the show.
“Hey, I’m willing to embarrass myself; I hope my friends will be willing to part with a few bucks to see it.”
He’s asking that people make pledges to opinionsbybob@gmail.com.
“I’ll take $10, $25, $50, whatever you can afford. It will help in efforts to eradicate this horrible cancer.”
Those pledging will be advised where to send their checks.
Arriving late on South Broadway? It still won’t be too late for “the show.” Robinson is advisor for the Greenville High School Key Club and, for the first time, the group will be in the Annie Oakley Days Parade.
“I won’t have time to change before the parade starts,” Robinson said. “Sure hope the kids won’t be too embarrassed to have me riding with them.”
Later that day, during the T.E.A. Patriots Rally at Annie Oakley Park, Robinson will be one of the scheduled speakers. The rally starts at 4 p.m.
“While some may disagree with me, I can’t think of anyone who more embodies the concept of being free to do your thing based upon your abilities and desire to succeed than Annie,” Robinson said. Her famous quote, he added, says it all:
“Aim at a high mark and you will hit it. No, not the first time, not the second time and maybe not the third. But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect. Finally you’ll hit the bull’s-eye of success.”
Robinson said he believes that’s what the American Dream is all about.
