Only 17% Say Today's Children Will Be Better Off Than Their Parents

Americans historically have always worked to make sure their children were better off than they were, but the number who believe today's youth will be better off than their parents has fallen to its lowest level ever.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 17% of Adults think today’s children will be better off than their parents. Sixty-one percent (61%) disagree with that assessment. Another 22% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Since early January of last year, most Americans have consistently believed today’s children will not be better off than their parents. Pessimism has ranged from a low of 47% to this new high of 61%. Optimism in the future for today’s youth has run from 17% to 34%.
Interestingly, younger adults are more confident about the future than those over the age of 30.

A valid reason exists for the young adults to be more optimistic than the older folks.
These young folks get it - hard work, education, geographic flexibility, seeking opportunities regardless of location, all these enable them to look forward to a great future.
They are not planning to work for the union in the same place, with no education, no travel, an insulated view of the USA as the only place on earth.
Bully for them.
I wish them all the success, adventure and expanded learning they are headed for.
PS... much of this will not be in the USA. For those who disagree, no wonder you have such a negative view of your off springs futures.
