A Detailed response to the poll questions currently on That's My Opinion...

Honest and Trustworthy- definitely qualities that are needed. Unfortunately this says nothing about ones ability to make intelligent decisions. People inherently can figure out a persons personal qualities and sincereness. Politicians, unfortunately tend to say what people want to hear and the people end up getting a person that they have to wait 4 years to get rid of.
Fiscally conservative - One of the hardest things for an outsider coming into the governmental process is to figure out what can or can't be done with the People's Money. If one is fiscally responsible, that person will be fiscally conservative for the most part. Choosing projects wisely is a part of this quality.
Lifelong resident - It is good to have an understanding of "where we have come from" so that the same mistakes aren't made every 20 years all over again. There is a lot to be said about new blood as long as it is tempered.
Private business experience - Any business experience is helpful. Once again though, getting the understanding of what can and can't be done with the People's Money is the bigger part of this.
Public Service Experience - A definite plus because of having an understanding of how the "system" works.
Strong leadership - This goes without saying. Unfortunately, there are three commissioners and it becomes quite easy for one of them to become the bully. It is equally as easy for a couple of strong personalities to but heads constantly and never get anything done.
Good communication skills - Most of the time this is centered on listening and then reacting. People can't stand people who say they'll take care of something and it never gets done.
Other - A good question, what other qualities do make a good commissioner? At this point, it's pretty unclear why any of the three want the job because no real points have been addressed that I've seen.
