DCSO... Arrest made in recent burglaries

PROPERTY RECOVERED/ARREST MADE IN RECENT BURGLARIES

Last night Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives were assisted by Greenville Police Officers at 526 Martin Street , Greenville Ohio as a search warrant was executed at that residence.  Earlier in the day Darke County Detectives learned that stolen items were being kept in the basement at the Martin Street address.

Just prior to the execution of the search warrant, James Michael Moore, age 26, was arrested near the address after he was witnessed selling a stolen firearm and large flat screen TV.  Moore was taken to the Darke County Jail where he remains incarcerated on charges of having weapons under disability; additional charges on Moore will be sought after the case is reviewed by the Darke County Prosecuting Attorney.  Darke County Detectives will continue to follow up on leads that developed and will pursue additional arrests as the investigation continues.

Sheriff Toby L. Spencer reports that as a result of his department’s actions last night, in excess of $3,500 worth of stolen property has been recovered thus far.  Items recovered during the investigation were multiple electronic devices, firearms, jewelry, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

It is unclear and probably unlikely that Moore is responsible for all of the recent burglaries therefore citizens should remain vigilant in watching for and reporting suspicious activity as investigations continue.  Anyone with additional tips or information on the recent burglaries / home invasions should contact the Darke County Sheriff at (937) 548-3399.  The Darke County Crime Stoppers offers rewards for crime tips and information that leads to the arrest and/ or conviction of those responsible for criminal acts.  Tips can be reported to Crime Stoppers at 937-547-1661.
